In Thai society, I find it dreadful how soap operas portray gender roles. Western men are far less likely to be physically abusive or cheat. Or, Asian American women find a partner who is not from their home country. I have people in mind when I say this. Often I get stared at. I guess I look mixed enough to make them openly gawk. My mom is Thai and my father Chinese.
